I cruised past that size my senior year in high school. :(

LOL. Then you have nothing to prove;)

But why should finding a decent over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder be quite so difficult as this?

I am on the lookout for a comfortable sleep bra. Any recommendations anyone? Or could I make one? Has anyone tried this?

That's the problem... I don't have / can't find one I like!

(God, we talk about some random things here...)

Well, I have two that *fit* me very well (from marks) butI don't like them because:

1) After three or four years of non-bra wearing I can't get used to them

2) They're lacy. And scratchy. And underwired. And horrible. Well, they're very nice actually, but not nice to wear.

But bra fitting is really important to garment making. How a bra fits and where the bust liea in it make a HUUUUUGE difference to how something fits! This is why brides need two of the bra they are going to wear under their dress: one to wear to ALL the fittings, and one to have new on the day. And if you are spending a lot on a posh bra, you'd really want to make sure if fitted properly and comfortably before you bought it!

Trish, I like those shelf-bra camisoles for sleeping. Very comfortable, give light support, but they're non-binding when you're moving around at night.

What defines whether you like it or not -- style or fit? Here are some suggestions depending on what you are referring to.

Providing that you mean style, find a pattern that you like (providing they make one in your cup size -- they don't for me) and make it, then tweak it based on how it fits until you have one you like.

If you mean fit, then go to a corsetiere and find one that fits well, and then clone it.

Ahhh, you are halfway there... find a similar pattern and make it out of non-lacy, non-scratchy fabric, and dump the underwire. Then see how that fits.

Yes, you can make one, but check out these (which you might not buy if you don't want to order from overseas, but I digress...):

They aren't horrendously supportive but they make a very nice sleep bra, and they come in sizes to fit absolutely anybody.

The women in my family got in a discussion after the super bowl fiasco. DD had the best comment regarding booby rings - she said she would get one, only every time she bent over she'd catch her big toe in the ring. Sharon

For my sleep bras I take out the wires of my day time bras. Loosens them up just enough to sleep. Now I have to admit that my daytime bras fit and are comfortable though.
