Location of Dog feed lever

Have a Kenmore sewing machine Model 385.12618890 and cannot lower the dog feeder. Cannot find any type lever to accomplish this.

If the feed dogs cannot be lowered, there was usually a little cover-plate to position over the feed dogs - maybe called a darning plate ? eg:

Exactly. It probably came with her sewing machine but she's not checked out the manual to tell her the different parts.

There is a treasure trove of information in the manual .. My Elna came with 2 manuals - one for the machine & basics ; a second manual was like a little tutorial with the fancy and technical sewing instructions. If I had studied a little closer - I wouldn't have wrecked my sweet Air Electronic by reversing with a double cam .. John T.

My manual is like a bible for my sewing machine. How many times have I referred back to it for a tip I've written down. If it's something I don't sew that often but the stitch length and stitch width have been noted then I don't have to do test patterns to determine which one to use. Lots of good stuff in my manual that I've added to over the years.
