Perhaps someone might be able to help me. I was given a Kenmore serger from a friend. I threaded it, plugged it in an d turned it on. The light turns on but when I press the pedal, nothing happ ens. At the time my sewing machine had the same pedal so I tried switching them, thinking it was a problem with the pedal but nothing changed. Would anyone have any ideas on whats wrong, or how to fix it?

If you step on the pedal and you hear a sound but nothing moves it would likely be the belt. If you hear nothing and have tried a known working foot control Likely a motor problem. That said it is impossible for anyone to diagnose a machine they do not have in hand. Perhaps a trip to your friendly local repair shop is in order.
