Need curtain advise

Hello everyone, I just bought a house that was a rental and all the curtains have to be replaced. The back of the house is almost all windows and I wanted to put sheers up. But the rods that are already up are those really "fat" kind (don't know how else to put it)that normal sheers won't fit on. So I thought about tab tops, but they are hard to find in sheers. So, my question is...would it look tacky to put those big rings on regular sheers so they will fit on those big rods? I really can't afford to replace all the rods in the house (they are all the same). Any other ideas???

Thank you!

Sheers with giant eyelets on those fat rods are dead popular over here. You mean like these:

Buy a longer length curtain and make new casings to fit the rods. Aud

We think along the same lines. Wouldn't removing one line of stitching make the casing big enough for the fat rods?

Then you wouldn't have that inch or inch and a half heading above the rod. Although that isn't necessary Always remember to add about 3/4 to and inch to the legth measurements. When you shirr the fabric,,,,it "rises" a bit. Aud

I have seen some horrible examples of this. The shop asistants must have held themselves back from stopping the customer buying.
