Need ideas for stretch velvet!!!

Apologies to those who have seen this post in other groups but I want to get as many ideas as possible! :-)

I have approx. 4 meters of absolutely lovely champagne-coloured burn- out stretch velvet. I want to make some type of dress or tunic or ??? I intend to wear the result to a philosophy cafe evening this fall and want to impress the crap out of someone.

Any and all pattern suggestions, links to pics, etc are

***heartily*** welcome! Rember, no idea is too over-the-top for Erin! :-)

Dear Erin,

If you use the pattern that Melinda suggests (it's lovely), there's a possibility that you can leave out the zipper. If you don't have a serger, use a tiny zigzag to give extra stretch to the seams. Zippers are tricky in velours, unless you have a bit of experience. Or you could use an invisible zipper.

Let me pull out my patterns this afternoon (have to straighten the sewing room this afternoon) and I will give you my list...lol, yes, I have a few that would work.

I have a pattern *very* similar to this that I was thinking oftrying with another fabric (also slightly stretchy). Good thing thatyou jolted my memory! I can make it up in the pink fabric, tweakingthe pattern as needed, and then make it in the stretch velvet. I havea LOT of the pink so I feel safer starting with that and I have plentyof time between now and Nov. 1st. Thanks!

Fortunately, long ago in a galaxy far, far away (South Carolina to be exact and it is a LONG ways away from Sweden!!!), I cut my teeth on stretch velvets/velours because I was just too ignorant to know they are tricky!
