In the dutch groups there is a weekly posting of a charter. It contains the purpose of the group and what is wanted en what's not.

Mayby an idea, it doesn't work to hold every sort of spammer out of the group, but it gives people who don't know this group a handle and think twice before they spam with their goodies.........

My thoughts exactly. However, people selling stuff deserve to be taunted too. Otherwise, we'd be taking this aggression out on each other.

I have tried to do that with the FAQ on another newsgroup, but it's really difficult to get something on an internet-wide auto-post basis. More than I can do, anyway.
