No sew blanket

Hi, I work in at Hancock Fabrics in Ohio and I have a question. People around here are going crazy making these two layer no sew fringed fleece blankets. My question since you folks are from all over, Is this a local fad or is it everywhere? Thanks Ilene

They're popular here, too - St. Louis, Missouri.

Probably since pictures and instructions have been on TV, in magazines and Joann's flyers all over the country I'd bet it isn't just a local phenomenon in your part of Ohio.

The fad is everywhere. There are lots of them being sold here in Minnesota. I suspect that a lot of non-sewers are picking them up. We made sit upons for my daughter's group and they were enough to convince me that it would be much easier just to sew a few seams. But if you don't sew or don't have a sewing machine or have a lot of time on your hands that isn't next to a sewing machine; you can just sit there and tie away. A pillow was enough for me; I don't want to do a blanket.

OK I have heard of these but not seen them in my neck of the woods. Can someone please explain them to me or point me to a site where I can get instructions??

Thanks Elaine

2 years ago, I started making them for friends and family for Christmas. Except they aren't 2 layers and I don't fringe them since I don't like fringe in my face. I simply round the corners and serge the whole thing with a 3 thread stitch.

Everybody loves them, everybody wants them. They are easy as can be and I get the fleece on sale. I use 2 1/2 yards for each blanket. We use them summer and winter.

I've made several "quillows", and several throws, but not double layers. The quillows instructions are in one of those project booklets. The throws are just a piece of fleece that I did a decorative stitch around. Joann's and Wal-Mart have a ton of fleece panels. Sharon
