It's the last session, which I find is saddening me somewhat. However, I am very cheerful about everything I have learned, and the fact that I now fearlessly touch the touch screen. Repeatedly. I'm even thinking about taking the PSW 2.0 out of the box. Nervy, eh?

Very! Are you certain you will be able to connect the cables without a webinar to instruct you? ;->

No. Not at all sure. First, I'll need to move heaven and earth to see the back of my puter to check for a serial cable port. That could take three years.

First thing to check would be your computer's manual/docs. Or if you cannot locate them, go to: Control Panel|System|Hardware|Device Manager and see if any serial ports are listed. Ports will be listed alphabetically probably between "Network Adapters" and "Processors" , and it you click the "+" you'll be able to see a list of available ports. Look for a "printer" port most commonly "LPT1" or "LPT2". If you have only one, you would have to unplug your printer if you have one hooked up.

If there is *no* serial port, and you have USB port(s) available, you'll have to find one of the USB-to-serial adaptors like:

But try to buy one locally at a store with good return policies, it took me three tries to get one to work.

Never looked in that before. Sez I have a Com1 and an LPT 1. I've got my printer hooked up on a USB port. Does that mean that I'm in bizness? My inclination is still to look for the connector on the back of the tower.

Yes indeed!

You'll have to pull the tower out far enough to see the back, but you'll see a 9-pin connector there, that's the serial port LPT1. Connect the PSW cable to that, then run it over to the XL6000 and plug it in.

Install the "Conversion Software" which came with the machine, and you should be able to transfer designs to the machine. You'll have to make a few additional adjustments to the speed settings, etc. Be sure you click "Wait to send" on the computer, then go to the screen on the XL6000 and click the icon for ...

Oh crap, just read the manual. :-}

Seriously, there are steps you have to take in a precise order, if you run into a problem, call me [phone # sent privately] and I'll try to walk you through it. And when you install PSW2.0 you run into some additional steps and issues.

What??? RTFM??? I think that's against my religion.

Thanks. When I work up the nerve -- and find all the parts -- I'll be ringing you up!
