<ping> Ron Anderson

Ron, I am going tomorrow to pick up my beloved Bernette MO

2-3-4 from a local OSMG. A few weeks ago I managed to screw the stitch length adjuster screw off too far and the nut and washer fell off. I could not for the life of me get my fingers in there to get it back together, plus at that point I did not know where the washer thingy went, so I took it to Kay's OSMG (Thanks Kay!!!) who is more local to me than you are. :-(

He phoned a bit ago to tell me it's ready. He also said "It was dry as a bone inside." EEEK ! ! ! He gave it a thorough cleaning and lubing, and also replaced the bulb (flickering) and the foot control which had been acting up for me, and went completely out while he was working on it. :-}

I have always cleaned and lubed it as the owner's manual instructed, but according to local OSMG that is not sufficient, it needs to have the case off and several lube points inside done regularly. Do you have a service manual for that serger? If yes, could I beg, borrow or pay for a copy? Or could you e-mail me a few pictures and/or hints?

Pretty please?

Beverly, who hopes Ron retires to the Pacific NW...

I do not own one. Never needed it. However

In my opinion you would do better by paying the OSMG once a year any way. Maybe he can stay in business another year if people paid for the great service he provides.

Duh, thanks for the reminder.

I understand your point of view. I don't object to paying OSMG for annual routine maintenance, I just object to machine companies providing incomplete user-maintenance information.

Thanks, Ron, you are a jewel!

Yeahbut, with 6-7 machines in regular use, I don't mind having them serviced professionally every second or third year (at $75-$150 a pop), but I still like to be able to provide the highest level of owner-care possible every second or third project/garment/use.
