Tell ya what. Start your own NG, and invite all the advertisers to come your way. Here's what you do to start your own group...

oh....one of the things you need is ....a charter...! "Your new group needs a reason for being. An identity. A manifesto that makes its aims and purpose clear. It can inform potential posters whether your group is the right place for them to post. It makes it easier for you to flame them when they post inappropriately."

----in other words, a group needs rules.

How about a manifesto of respect and tolerance. I cannot believe that this is continuing to go on. One post of a supposed ad and the lot of you go nuts and get very mean. Like someone else said.....Get over it, and get on with whatever this place is supposed to be about. You will NOT stop ads, you will only lose posters with this foolishness of trying to foist your limitations on people.

Top posting because I can and I think the other way is stupid and who ever invented it did not know how many previous posts you would have to go through to get to the new one because most people just hit reply and don't care how much garbage you have to go read again to find something that has not already been answered or commented on.

get a real newsreader & you won't have that problem. top posting is a sign of someone who is too lazy to trim posts...much like you did here. even crap readers like OE let you reply properly if they're set up right. your laziness isn't anymore of a virtue than your stubborness at accepting long-standing USENET convention (ie rules). look, *i'm* an anarchist (just ask the FBI), but i use the rules here because it makes discourse simple & pleasant. lee

Dunno about the FBI, but the sewing feds are ready for another outing...

ah, well... we had a frost last night. fortunately it didn't hit the pumpkins badly. just a few leaf tips got frostburned. had to build a portable greenhouse over the vines. using bias binding on seams in vinyl seems to keep them from pulling apart so easily.

oh, i will, eventually. Boo's school has a semi-formal dance for the families every February & one of the other moms dared me to wear a court gown, so that'll probably be first. Tom says he's going to wear his formal kilt this year (with his tux jacket, i think). so, what should i dress Boo in? i could make a kilt & pair it with his linen pirate shirt. maybe. lee

Hehehehe... Combining sewing with gardening! I like it! And yes, you are right: it can make a HUGE difference to the durability as well as the ease of getting the blasted vinyl through the machine!

Good! :)

The correct formal jacket for a kilt is one of these:

It should be black for evening wear. A tux jacket looks dreadful as it is far too long and not designed to fit at the waist. For an informal dance, a pirate shirt is ideal. A pal, of mine (James's Godfather) has a yummy purple one he wears for informal or 'smart casual' wear with his kilt. For a child (12 and under) for formal wear a nice full sleeved shirt, a waistcoat, and matching bow tie looks good. Over 12 and it's the full kit or something entirely different!

I am so sorry that you have this need to win at any price. I still think that there is room for courtesy and kindness in this world and on Usenet. I have been using this venue since about 1994 and only in the past 2-3 years has anything been written with so much hate in it. I feel sorry that you cannot accept all people for what and who they are. I would not want to live in your narrow world for one minute. I am not, like you, the very best computer user on the planet, I do not even know what news reader I use but I do know it works just fine for me. As far as long standing Usenet conventions, for the most part I have found people to be friendly and courteous not mean spirited and cruel. To be proud of reporting people to their ISP's for minor infractions of your rules and picking on people y'all do not personally know for spelling, rammer and the like indicates a mean streak a mile wide and sounds a lot like bullying. It is no wonder that this is called the Sewing Terrorist site. You all can go back to your clique now and enjoy yourselves. May you all have a rule filled wonderful time here and woe be to anyone who breaks the so called rules.

That would be "the cat's meow"(almost Halloween, you know, so must get the word, cat, in somewhere; but serious, I think kilts with the pirate shirt would be absolutely awesome for Boo. Pictures please. Emily
