I'm thinking about buying a serger since I heard it would be good for sewing Lycra and things like that. Can anyone tell me the basic features I would need on a decent serger and what extra features I should try to get if I can stretch my dollar? Do any b rands stand out more than others?
Thanks in advance :) Dee

OK Sharon hold your hat ----------- Don't get a Brother -- unless -- it is one of their newer models made after
2002. AND if you do go with Brother keep your receipt and make sure the place you buy it will take it back and give you a REFUND if it does not operate correctly.
************ OR *************** Ask a dealer or two if you can take some lessons on a store display model before you decide to buy the beast. This way you will know if you actually need/want one.
I love the White and the Viking/Huskquvarna (sp??) but I have a Janome/New Home and it sews like a workhorse. I love it and it is previously owned. I use a White in my classes because the dealership gave us those to use. The students can't kill them so they are great.
Now I have probably confused you so I will say go to the "Threads" magazine website and read the article on serger comparison.
Good luck!
