Sewing! Just a hobby?

I am just curious as too whom this newsgroup serves. So here is my basic question of which of the following are you?

A. Sew as a hobby.

B. Sew to supplement family clothing.

C. Sew as a business.

D. All of the above or some combination of the above.

Personally, I am in group D. I have been involved in sewing since I was four years old. I started making my wardrobe at age twelve. I went into business sewing for others at age eighteen. I don't make a lot of income from the sewing. I also have four children, a husband, lots of pets, livestock, and a small farm that need my attention. Let alone the basic time needed to keep house and self in working order.

Put me down for A and B. I toy with the idea of C from time to time but don't have the time.

At times in my life I've belonged in D, but now am only A+B.

I sew because RTW clothing does not fit me, and I'd rather not look like a "K-Mart mama". I also can't afford designer clothing, and although by now I might be able to afford a dressmaker for a few special items, the price scares me away when I know I can make most of it myself.

Likewise, I do household sewing and mending because I was taught how to do it, and I cannot bear to throw out stuff which needs only a few stitches to make it useable again.

I belong to the A category now for the past ten or so years or so, but in my other life I was definitely in D. Emily

Nothing but mending any time recently. I don't even think I get a letter for that.

D.

However, the "C" part is currently dominating. My stash is huge because I keep buying great fabric when I come across it. Makes me feel guilty, walking past those bales of beautiful cloth in order to retrieve yet another sheet of neoprene.

I'm also currently stressed out because an order I shipped via first class mail last Saturday hasn't arrived at its North Carolina destination as of today. And while it wasn't a huge order, it was for a repeat customer heading to a tournament tomorrow and she is very unhappy at the prospect of having to vetwrap her dogs this weekend (a sentiment I can strongly sympathize with).
