Shortening Knit Shirts?

I have a number of Polo type shirts and was wondering if they can be shortened since they seem to be cut very long although I'm almost 6'. Is this something that's easy or hard to do? What would it cost, just wondering if it's worth it. Thank-you

I don't think shortening the shirts would be that difficult. Just cut off the length you want, and make the new hem like the old one. If you are thinking of paying to have them done, why not take one shirt to the cleaners and ask them how much to would cist. then decide if it is worth it to you. HTH Barbara in SC "GQ" wrote

I like a particular brand of v-neck tee-shirts that run a little long, and I hem them myself. First, I baste the bottom to the length desired. {I have a serger w/cover stitch, but I don't use it.} Instead, I prefer to do them on a regular straight-stitch machine, a double needle and wooly nylon in the bobbin. Just remember the wooly nylon has to be hand-wound onto the bobbin. Most sewing machine manuals have directions to use a twin/double needle. With two threads on top and wooly nylon in the bobbin, sew a seam from the top side and then trim as close to the hem as possible. I do sweat shirts in the same manner, as well. HTH, Emily
