Cane Heads

I have been asked to make a cane for a friend with back problems. I have found cand hardware at Rockers (Joint and Tip), but they no longer carry the heads. Making the cane seems straight forward, but shaping the head looks to be a more difficult process, Can anyone point me to some resources that might help me out in this process, or does anyone know who still sell cane heads?

Last time I looked, Lee Valley had them.

(clip) does anyone know who still sell cane heads? ^^^^^^^^^^ I am in the middle of making a number of canes, to be donated to a Senior Center Crafts Fair. Antique door knobs make very attractive cane heads. Some of them can be very pricey--they come in cut glass, pressed glass, porcelain, brass and iron. I have to worry about cost, since I am making a bunch of them, but if it's a one-off for a friend, well--that's up to you.

They can be found in the Craft Supply catalog as well.

Thanks for the suggestion Leo. I have been looking for a 'rounded' cane head. An antique door knob sounds like the way to go. How do you secure them?
