Singer Model 1200

Anyone know about this machine; Google not much help. Looks like a Mod.

201 and similar features, but has a built-in knee lift and speed control via a treadle. Looks like "semi-industrial", altho this is an overused term these days, isn't it. Maybe used for drapery, tailoring? Came in a table and doesn't collapse/fold up. TIA JPBill

Pretty much the same machine as the 201. Even Singer many moons ago described it as for dressmakers, tailors and Home industrial use. assuming it runs a very nice machine indeed. If buying on Ebay be aware it will likely be a box of junk after they ship it

Wonderful machine! All the benefits of the 201 PLUS the knee lift. Was used by tailors.

If bought on eBay it likely will *not* be a box of junk.. I have bought 5 or 6 machines on eBay, and have *not* received a box of junk because of shipping problems yet.

Thanks, all, for the input. I'm arranging for local pickup, so shipping worries are nil this time unless we drop it off the truck. JPBill

You were lucky. I've purchased about ten machines through eBay and I hold my breath for each...at lest three came damaged to some degree. Two were NOT as advertised. It's very sad.....no more eBay machines.
