I'm a novice sewist. I don't know what level you are. This newsgroup is one of the best. They don't belittle you, give the best advice and most importantly they give lots of advice. It helps a lot to hear different points of view on things.

I picked up a pattern in walmart for $1.75 and I've made few dresses. I'm still repairing the ones I made and I'm learning as I go. This is definitely a hobby I'll keep.

Good luck!

You are very welcome! :)

It is! After 40something years I'm still doing both, every day. :)

This is definitely one of the best newsgroups I've ever come across! The members are extremely helpful and wonderfully supportive. I've learned a lot from reading the posts and checking out member websites. Due to what I've learned, I have completed, since April, 2 skirts, 2 tunics, and a simple dress. I am about to begin sewing a Chinese dress for my sister's wedding in September. Sewing is a great hobby and this newsgroup keeps it fresh and fun! Thank you! Judy

Of course it is! Learning something new every day keeps us happy in life. Besides, what better thing is there to learn than a sewing tip? Emily, who just returned from having a wonderful 2 weeks visiting my youngest DGD in SC and having lunch with the poster, "Bobbie in SC". Great fun. Emily

Thanks Emily! I certainly enjoyed having lunch with you, your DGD, and your DIL. Hope we get to do this more often. Barbara in SC

As soon as I can get back to your lovely state, I'll give you a call. Did you get the curtains made? I know your DS will like them. On the way home after lunch, we stopped at W-M and I found the perfect fabric to make the sundresses for DGD and her friend, which is in the Pattern-Free Sewing book. I plan to have them ready to mail when DS gets home this weekend and can take them to the post office. Then I plan to make DGD a few jumpers in case her parents send her to a school that requires girls to wear jumpers and polo shirts. If she goes to a regular school, she can still wear the jumpers with different blouses/shirts. Emily
