Here's me with three boxes of nice some what vintage thread (the small bobbins (spools) are plastic not wood, so they cannot be *that* old, and have no idea what sort of thread.

Boxes only state "Tubino Fil Lustre A La Cle - Thiriez Lille-Paris.

Though French can make out it's cotton (ok, so that was easy), but not sure if this is embroidery thread or sewing thread. The cellophane wrapping around each bobbin is intact, and would rather not open one up just yet.

Clues anyone?

TIA Candide

Been there, and done that. Not much comes up, but there was one source that sold a type of embroidery thread from the same vendor. Company has since merged with DMC (IIRC, as of the 1960's)

To check if the thread is usable,

Thanks for the suggestions, tend to think it is embroidery thread because it tis very fine and has a nice lustre, similar to Gutterman "silk" thread. Also the spools are very small.
