My wife is looking for a Bernina for around $800.00, or maybe a little more.
She does not want a lot of computerized options, just a very good sewing machine for quilting.
What is her best option?
Thanks,
Mike

G'day Michael
A Janome 6600....even it's predecessor the 6500 would be good too.

"Best" would be for her to take fabric to several dealers and give them all a test drive.
Have you read: What Machine Should I Buy FAQ:
Bernina 1008: useful set of utility stitches, tough as old boots! Goes for about £400 here in the UK. It'll leave her plenty of change for more quilting supplies! The machines closer to her $800 mark are all computerized and have a raft of fancy stitches as well as the basics, and are excellent machines, but if all she wants is something that will go forever, the 1008 is a goodie.

I love my Bernina 1030 but I don't know what a service second hand would cost you where you are. It's not electronic, and is a great workhorse. HTH Claire in Montréal, France.
The Bernina 1130 is not computerized at all and sews like a dream. For folks who adore Bernina ( and I am one) this is great. I have a 1230 I bought 2 or 3 years ago and I am totally hooked. All the things that were chores on the Kenmore Snarl-O-matic are simple. It also has programmable stitch combinations. It's one of the first ventures into computer chips for Bernina, I think.

Kenmore Snarl-O-matic! You slipped in so deftly it took a moment for it to register. That's funny, even if I have only known very even tempered Kenmores. I suppose you can snarl back at it too.
