Wild Ginger / Board Shorts

Right, I'm looking very specifically for a pattern for board shorts (you know, the jobbies that surfers supposedly wear?). I really want some, except I can't justify up to about £50 for a pair! Has anyone seen a pattern? I can't find one. Also, does anyone know what fabric they would be made from?

Ok, 2nd part of the question. I thought the Wild Ginger "Curves" would have shorts in the active wear bit,but it doesn't appear to. Is it in one of the others? Are the styles in Wild Ginger fairly modern, or are they a bit dated. From what I can see in the programme they look more like stuff that my Nan would wear (I'm not slating it here) as if it is aimed for a different age group. Is there any similar software that is aimed at 19/20 year olds, or a similar age group? I'm fed up of buying patterns that don't fit!

You could try Simplicity 9751 for the board shorts. The construction is a bit strange though, at least in the "facing" (or whatever the waist section should be called). Took me ages to figure out how they intended it to go together, but I'm sure you could do it differently.

Are you sure that's the right number? The simplicity site doesn't show anything up for that. Google fives me a nursery set!

"Charlie" Is there any similar software that is aimed at 19/20

I agree. I am 26, and although I do like some things I find in ready made patterns that are ok for work, I really don't find alot I like for casual, not to mention finding a pattern for low rise hip hugger flare pants is almost impossible, so far I have only seen one and it wasn't in the store when I went shopping.

Even the juniors section isn't right. I like a few styles, but most of them are too big on me.

If you find something, other than draft your own patterns, which I already resort to, let me know!

P.S. I don't know about board shorts.

Well, I find the vogue stuff really good for evening wear, but I can't find one single company that makes practical sportswear patterns! I'd love to be able to make my own joggers for work, saves ruining the ones I buy! I just don't get why companies label patterns as "activewear" or "sportswear" when it just looks like what my mum might wear while on holiday to stroll along the beach! Certainly not the type of thing to bang out a squash match in or do an hour or two of hard slogging in the gym!

BTW, anyone know any companies that make patterns for watersports gear like dry cags etc?

Kwik sew has a pattern that you can turn into board shorts if you drop the waistband KS 2840 it's the only thing I've found that is remotely close.

Look through the New Look catalog. They do a lot of stuff that's sportswear for younger folks. They had several things (skirts and pants) with lower/no waistbands, etc. (36 in June, but my 13 year old likes my clothes!!! LOL) Also look at Kwik Sew. They do a lot of workout clothing patterns. I've used both pattern lines and love them.

In article , mamahays of Comcast Online uttered

also try Burda - I had/ have one of theirs that would (I think) do what you want, but it's bound to be out of print by now.

You can fit any of the WG Pattern Master Boutique pants to where you want to wear them. It might take a little tweaking to get them to fit perfectly, but the tweaking stuff is built in the program.

They have a boxers pattern -- but Curves is meant mainly for lingerie and garments made from knit fabric.

I guess you can modify them to make them any way you want with the wide variety in fit options, necklines, adjustment tools, etc.

That's the number on the pattern envelope. I can't see anything like it on the website, so I guess it's been discontinued. Maybe they had lots of complaints: I wouldn't be surprised. Liz

> HTH,

While you are on that page, look at 6251, the view with the Hawaiin print on the sides. I have just cut out that pattern (different view) but haven't had time to sew it yet soI don't have any advice, just thought they looked cool.
