glue for bookmaking

May 27, 2004 1 Replies

One of the teachers at our elementary school is making books. What is a relatively cheap glue they could use? We tried Elmers last year, and it was a disaster.

Thanks,

Marion

Do they still make good old white school paste? The kind that we used to eat when I was a kid? Paste works a lot better than glue for books, IMO, because it's never as wet, so the bits and pieces don't slide around and the paper doesn't buckle. I use YES paste, but it's probably a little spendy for school use, so I don't see why school paste wouldn't work. Have the kids spread it thinly on the paper with popsicle sticks or disposable plasticware knives or something like that.
