I haven't read here in a while but I a shocked by the amount of trash posted here. I have a filter but you have to add subjects and personally these people have more words than I can think of. Plus I have to add the words to list list for each newsgroup. Any suggestions on how to see less of this crap?

Look into a better newsreader? I believe AoL permits the use of third-party software to access newsgroups. If you don't want to spend money on one, the free Mozilla Web browser has pretty good filtering that you can apply across all the groups you read; I very rarely see Usenet spam these days. It's also an excellent browser, with pop-up blocking and other security features built in.
Good luck. It's not just this newsgroup, it's Usenet at large.
