Cynthia - re your search for black lace for DD's dress.

Where are you when you talk about phoning across the country to Montreal? I assume you are somewhere in Canada.

Sheila in Calgary

" By the way, did you see any black lace fabric? For some strange reason, there seems to be no lace fabric in this part of the world! My DD is graduating this year and has decided that for her prom dress she wants an iridescent wine taffeta fabric overlaid with black lace.....but there's no lace to be seen! I might end up phoning across the country to Montreal......"

Beverly, you couldn't have done it to a more deserving peron.Love it! I shall mow pull in my carefully manicured claws and retire to a quiet spot.Perhaps peace shall return to the group. Juno

And you "published" it again in *your* post because............

AIUI, putting _spaces_ in the address foils most commonly used harvesting bots, BIMBW. If so, I apologize, it was not my intention. I hope the "[...]" ameliorates the damage.

I believe it was you who took the time to figure out the grandiose scheme, The very wordy way some people try to hide their email addy.I believe that "SHE" has said she's out of here. Juno

Ah, *that*. I am all in favor of disguising e-mail addresses when posting on Usenet. My first few posts in the clear a few years back invoked a "Whole Buncha Spam"®. I believe that by adding the spaces I left her address unreadable by a harvesting bot. I may be wrong, if so I'm sorry.

An outcome devoutly to be desired.

It's the international phonic alphabet - never had to spell out a name or address by phone and had it mistranscribed

But I'm not in the States, so I used the International one - oh, and we have aeroplanes here, in any case ;)

But you already did it yourself. They were just taking out the gobbledygook for someone and still leaving it unharvestable.

Don't blame them for not reading your mind and discerning why you did what you did. Nobody can do that, not even you.

It was done by you, in away that it couldn't be harvested. I don;t believe that was the real problem. there is something else going on in her life and I think that is what causes her to be the way she is. I just think the rest of us should have to be exposed to her outlet for what ever her problem is. She's off my screen and I gather yours and that all that matters in my estimation. I'm very much in favor of hidding addies. I just don't feel the necessity to go to such lengths. Juno

LOL didn't matter by then did it? Too late. Only takes one message. The bots are at it all the time.

Spaces used to make a difference; not really any more. The bots move faster than we do LOL.

No... the damage was already done. No compounding effect. Only takes one message.

We do. *I* didn't mess up your address.

How very polite and civilised you are today.

That was certainly what I thought.

She's been gone here for quite awhile. I only see her nastiness/sarcasm/condescending garbage now if someone else quotes her.

Oh, I don't object to the *means*, whatever works, to each his/her own, etc. ;-) None of it works 100%, however.
