I purchased a Laser Tachometer from Princess Auto and it's great! I have a VSD and 4 step pulley on my Rockwell and the speed adjustment knob is only graduated in divisions of 10 so there is no real indication of exactly how many rpm you are dialling in. This makes life a lot easier, a piece of reflective tape on the chuck, point and shoot and you have the rpm accurate to 1rpm.
