Beside sharp tools & dust mask what advise does anyone have on turning these?

You Got the idea.
Make sure your skin is well clear when they are in the rough, they make very effective rasps. I have to get some more on my next trip out in the bush, almost out of stock now that my lathe is back in operation. Only need to make about 12 more good file handles then DiL2 wants some banksia candlesticks.
