I turned a 19 1/2" black walnut platter and am having a problem trying to figure out how to buff it without hitting the arbor, lathe, ways, etc. I could just not buff it, but this is probably not going to be a utilitarian piece. It's got a beautiful grain, you can actually see pictures in it. I posted a picture on WoW in my album for those of you who are members there. I don't want a shiney finish, just a nice soft glow. Would velvit oil do it? Danish oil is nice but I need it buffed for the glow.
Thanks, Ruth
