Bowls and Platters

Dec 14, 2003 3 Replies

I'm trying to sort out my website and divide between bowls and platters. I tend to think of a platter as a turned object whose diameter is about ten times the height, and a bowl with correspondingly smaller ratio, but is there a recognised definition?

Richard, Moving right along with unanswerables that we try to answer;

When does a coaster become a plate, a plate become a charger and a charger morph into a platter?

When does a beaker become a cup, a cup become a bowl and all things, great and small, rise to the level of a vessel?

When the maker _says it does_, and an observer agrees. We both await the wisdom of the ng's better answers. Arch

Fortiter,

Here, here! Pass me another beer. Dave in Fairfax
