Can someone point me in the direction of this newsgroups FAQ?

Hey Jim, Good advice, but you are out of character. Probably suffering from a short lived New Year's resolution. I thought for sure you would point hsilo toward due north. :) Arch

Fortiter,

Arch, I just now received a phone call from a friend who suggested I drag you out of my "twit-filter", even if only long enough to read your veiled attempt at sarcasm. If there is anything in your post that warranted a "smiley face" I fail to see the humour. James Barley

Thank you. AS I am sure you already know, I am just keeping within usenet ethics, it is always suggested one read the FAQ before contributing. Thanks again and looking forward to participating. Herb Silio

I'm truly sorry for my obvious mistake, Jim. I meant it to be gentle joshing, not veiled sarcasm. Just another of my smiley faced nothings. I grossly misread the way you and your friend would perceive it, and for my error I apologize to you both, and if it helps, to hsilo as well. I promise never to make another unwarranted attempt at humor directed at you.

I hope that you will look on my unfortunate although unintended insult as a problem with internet joshing, and let this be the end of it. Sincerely, Arch

Fortiter,

Damn Canardian. How dare your speak to a fine gentleman such as Arch in that fashion. I can't stand you damn foriegn savages and your support of terror.

God Bless, Al Kyder

hmph at least we don't go around invading coutries because we misspelt they're names(or because we forgot things such as the countries right to go to hell in its own way) so you just piss-off, eh?

Could have sworn I unsubscribed from rec.woodworking. How did it get back in here?

whats wrong with rec.woodworking?

Too many trolls but they weren't the problem. All the people who insisted on responding to them expressing their outrage at the troll, the support of the troll's target, etc., along with the rampant crossposting because of the trolls. Kept everything so clogged up that I was spending ridiculous amounts of time trying to set up filters and still had to slog through a bunch reply crap that had me down to a crawl in rec.woodworking. Then you can also add in the number of people who seemed to be on hair trigger all the time and taking offense over minor crap. Finally decided that the enjoyment I was getting (which was rapidly diminishing) wasn't anywhere near worth the effort I was putting forth.

Just a word on trolls -- they are easily killed. A couple of mouse clicks and he's blocked and effectively ceases to exist if everyone would do so. However, all the people who respond keep him alive and give him reason to continue his activities. It is not the troll who runs people off -- it is the idiots who insist on responding to the troll that finally accomplish that task.

The sound of a resolution undergoing brittle fracture. LOL

Bill
