Home Depot Sucks

I hope I'm not breaking the rules of this group, but I'm working on a new website called

formatting link
which is newly opened and I was hoping on getting some Home Depot horror stories from people in this group to get the forum rolling.

You can go to the site and post them, or post them here (let me know if it's ok to copy the story over), and I'll come back and get them (if any?).

Thanks a lot. I know "advertising" is a no-no on Usenet, but this is strictly non-profit and evolved strictly for my desire to share my hate of the big orange hell hole with others who feel the same.

You must have a lot of time on your hands. Ever think of taking up a hobby...like...woodturning?

I don't believe this is the proper forum to "vent one's spleen" over perceived injustices couched in generalities. If you have a complaint take it up with the management and tell us the results. I am a frequent customer of HD but I don't buy everything there. I am a firm believer in what our Purchasing Director told me some years ago: "you get what you pay for, if you work at it". I also dislike the word: "sucks". Joe Keeler, Cincinnati

Price check: Last Monday I went at Lee Valley (Halifax) and purchased 12 dowel cross at 0.23 ¢ each and one vacuum reducer at $2.95 CAD. I then proceeded to Home Depot and found the same dowel cross at 0.63 ¢ ea. with no quantity discount and the same vacuum plastic reducer at $5.95 CAD. FYI

A case in point for "It pays to shop around" no matter where you shop.

Hey Sam,

I just took a quick look at your website. It really is a cheap shot. What you really do need is a hobby. Or, a job. Maybe you ought to apply for a job at a Home Depot near you and go to work changing things for the better.

This is a woodturning group. Since your post has nothing to do with woodturning, maybe you should either take up the craft or find somewhere else to post.

My brother's job is to repair recycling equipment at a wide range of stores. Home Depot is one of his customers. One of the stores he visits always has a fairly new riding mower sitting out back with the other trash. My brother asked the manager about it and here is the story he got.

Every spring they have a man who buys a new riding mower, uses it for the summer, then returns it in the fall. It is Home Depot's policy to take any return (even if the item was not purchased there) so they take it back every year and give him a credit slip.

I don't know if this story is true but my brother, who has known the manager for several years now believes it to be. I know I have returned items to Home Depot even when I wasn't sure I bought them there. Never had a problem.

Nothing happened. Feel free to include that in your website if you want. I will be happly to furnish more details if you think it will be of interest. I think it is about time that the true story is told.

BTW, one of the nails bent when I tried to drive it. Do you think I should return it? I did not keep my receipt.

Leo, I for one welcome this new website. Maby it will provide a place for people to vent their frustrations and keep them of this site.

I wonder what Home Depot done to this guy, to cause him so much anger and resentment? Get over it !

Sounds like that nail was clearly defective. Or, have you considered the fact that the hammer may have malfunctioned? Sounds like a ready-made lawsuit to me.............:-) Barry

Hmm... A year ago I bought a Ryobi disk and belt sander at home depot and I have nothing to complain about. Oh wait, they actually CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD for this purchase! Damn them!

Move over Tony. Greetings from a fellow crook. I'm waiting to be arraigned for taking 21 inches of HD string in excess of what I needed to secure $75 worth of lumber. The case against me for taking TWO red warning flags was thrown out. My felony hearing about parking on the edge of a white parking space line is pending. However, I'm smelling sweet because I never take eleven items thru the ten item fast lane. Sans halo. Arch
