Lyn's an influential guy!

Hi all. Was perusing the turning stuff at my local Woodcraft and something just happened to catch my eye on the Woodcraft tool rests. There now appears to be a wedge of acrylic applied to the inside "L" section. Many will recall the warnings about using "L"/angle iron rests and the possibility of smashed fingers. Lyn had mentioned he'd made his concerns known to the powers-that be at Woodcraft. Last I read on this subject from him (maybe 4-6 months ago), he sounded a bit annoyed they hadn't changed the design.

Here's to you, Lyn Mangiameli, making the turning world safer one step at a time. ;)

ABOUT TIME!!!! I smashed my left index finger on a freak catch thanks to that toolrest design. It was bad. The moment it happened I though the finger was severed. I went into shock. It took over a year to heal and it is still a bit stiff. I almost quit turning because of it. I complained to Woodcraft after it happened about 4 years ago... They ignored me. Thanks to Lyn!!!

Hey, if you can't stand the occasional loss of a body part, maybe turning is not for you! Real turners laugh at OSHA.*G*
