I am noticing a noise from my Delta 1642 lathe. I think its in the headstock but it is difficult to tell. Its a clacking noise similar to the sound your rocker arms make when you don't have any oil in the car. It only seems to happen when I am turning spindles and I have piece between the tailstock and headstock. I realize that I am putting pressure on the headstock spindle when I do this so that is more than likely the cause, but WHY is it happening and has any other delta owner experienced this? I have one of the early models. Any ideas? suggestions?
