Work your way through the pictures and text describing the steps taken to make a bowl. In there he mentions using veneer between some of the blocks.

Hi Max, this is Kevin. I'm not a full-time turner and I've got about 15 years to go before I can retire. All the lines you see between the segments are wood veneer: mostly holly, padauk, purpleheart or black-dyed veneer.

Kevin, can you tell us about your thickness sander please. I recently saw a homemade unit used by some model ship builders and have been thinking of making one for myself.

L.Peter,

There are over a dozen plans for homemade thickness sanders on the internet. I almost made went the homemade route but bought the Delta model when a great deal appeared. The Performax thickness sanders are good too.
