Resource for Grooved Belts

I've been to three automotive stores in town and can not find the belt necessary to finish the VS Motor upgrade I'm doing to my Woodfast lathe. I purchased a Vicmarc stand for it which involves mounting the motor differently. The project is complete sans the new belt. I need a 50" 6 Rib 9/16 Poly-V (Micro-V) belt. I've been tearing across the internet for hours and the closes thing I can find is a 6PK1270 Good Year belt but nowhere does it state the width of this belt. Is there a resource for purchasing flat belts (or more specific Micro-V) for non automotive application? Any advice is appreciated.

I'm not sure where you are situated. I just found an ideal place for belts here in Ottawa, Canada. They managed to replace a $47 Sears belt with a $10 Jason belt. Big saving.

If you want to try to contact them, the outfit is General Bearing Service, their phone number is 613-238-8100. They also have a website at

Another place you can look is at the

site. They have their catalogs on site and these include pictures and explanations on how to match belts. That's how GBS found my replacement. Jason will also make custom belts if required. I'm not sure the cost would be worth it

Another thing to think about, bearing in mind that I have not seen your set up, is that sometimes, you can use a bigger belt if you are able to fit a tensioner somewhere. That's how automotive belts used for timing belts are.

for 8.13. I'm just in the last stages of my Poor Man's DC Motor controller. Keep watching, when I'm done, I'll post links on how I put a 2HP Pulse Controlled DC motor on my lathe for under $100
