Hi Glenn, Since you have two good answers, I'll take the opportunity for a question. Few here seem to use or admit to using copy lathes or attachments and most posts suggest that they aren't worthwhile for precision or even repetitive turning of smaller spindles. Since you found a place for copy turning short pieces, your reasons and a general discussion would be of interest here. Whether you are a neophyte or an experienced turner, I'm sure your thoughts would be welcomed by this friendly ng. TIA and good luck with the extensions. Arch

Thats the trouble im in. I'll explain: These things are plugs that go inside firework tubes to plug the one end. I made around 60 of them in spindle form 20 to a section - THEN CUT EM, thats where I screwed up. They fit the pipe I had but the new pipe I bought is an

Glenn, do the plugs need to be a special wood or shape, wet or dry, case hardened etc. etc?

Also maybe off topic, but too good a chance for us to learn something: What are the 'balls' made of? No trade secrets or tips for kids and terrorists, but generally how are they made so they expode into patterns and displays? A good url?
