Another Australian make, it seems.
I forgot the names/models of the two Stubby lathes sold in the USA a number of years ago. The one shown in this ad is the smaller of the two. But it still has like a 30" swing with the movable bed moved. And around 30" or so length. The bigger Stubby has something like a 44" swing with the bed m oved and about the same length. Think both had 2hp motors. Or maybe the b igger Stubby had 3hp. Not sure. If its Natchez Mississippi then it likely came from John Jordan. He was a Stubby dealer and lived/turned in Tenness ee I think. I saw John Jordan do a demonstration on a Stubby lathe back in the mid 1990s or early 2000s. Can't remember exactly when it was. Pretty sure Stubby is no longer a going concern now. But the highest of reputati on and quality at the time they operated. Yes Australian.
someone down under is still making them the company name
If someone is looking for a Stubby S750 I am selling mine. I am in the SF B ay area. GREAT price for one of the very best lathes you can buy. It is pos ted on Craigslist, but scammers are spamming me. I do not feel comfortable about selling anything that way.
If you are a real turner and know anything about wood lathes and are intere sted in my S750 post here!
I would be interested in a Stubby s750 if it is still available. Not sure when you posted in this group. Dennis M
I'm very interested. In sac and would like to see it soon!
One might suspect that in the 13 months since that post, he sold it
