6x6 question

I wonder...do you find that the majority of the squares are crocheted? I was googling the 6x6 exchange and saw a bunch of talk about crochet and only a few this and thats about knitting. So I wonder...because I only knit at the moment. I tried to learn to crochet this morning but the book I have is crappy. My knitting book was so clear that I learned with ease. So I have to find another crochet book. Crappy books make me grumpy. ;) Pam

Hi Pam,

The squares can be either knitted or crocheted, whatever you do. I know my afghans are made with both with even a couple of woven ones in them too. Care to join this month as I won't be posting the partners for a couple more days. Now, don't go getting grumpy, it's too nice a day here in upstate NY to be that way.

Hugs,

Nora

I've had knitted, crochet and Tunisian crochet, so I think you could say "Anything goes" (as long as it's roughly square and roughly 6x6 Love & higs Christine

Oh! I didn't know you could do that. That's neat!

Yes, I'd love to. Now that I have cables down pat I can produce some pretty squares! I'm heading out to Jo Ann's today to pick up some more colors and some more knitting needles. I never would have guessed that I would need so many needles! But it seems the only way I'm going to manage with the "gauge" issue is to have every size on hand. Right now I only have sizes 7 and 10. I like using the smaller needles best because the pattern looks tighter and nicer but sometimes the 10's are the ones I need to get the correct gauge.

:D I'm very happy right now as I've just had a delicious breakfast! Fried eggs, toast, hash...oh so yummy. I only let myself have hash a few times a year since it's a heart attack in a can so this was quite a treat this morning! Pam

Sounds good. Especially the "roughly" part! I've can get pretty close to 6" but sometimes I'm 1/4" off. So I squish it a little bit and "Presto!" perfect! :) Pam

A perfect description of my technique!! You'll enjoy the exchange, which reminds me I've got to do something with my squares soon, else they'll be taking over my corner!! Love & higs Christine

Hi Pam,

I've added your name to my list for the exchange. As long as the squares are not too much over 6x6 or even if they are under, that's good as you will need a border around them. Mine are almost six inches.

Nora
