A couple of new pics

I made a new Yahoo album for my shawls. There are only 3 in there now, but there will be more (laugh). I finally finished the Candle Flame Shawl, so here it is ;>)

No, the yarn colour is called "Autumn Heather" and is a reddish brown, more brown, but with red flecks in it. It's hard to describe. It's incredibly soft.

I loved the shawl - and the yarn. How was it to work with? I haven't tried it yet but have been tempted. Judy

It was fine to work with. It wound easily from the hank into a centre pull ball. I used an old pair of aluminum straight needles to knit it. Needless to say the price was very easy on the wallet. It called for 3 hanks, but I only used two, at the price of $4.29 a hank. I will admit that I put lifelines every 18 rows, but never had to use them. The pattern has a 36 row repeat and takes a bit of getting used to. I used round stitch markers to keep track of the pattern repeats on each row. I tried to make sure I did at least 10 rows every day, but it did take me around 5 months to knit it. However, I usually have more than one project on the go, so it would have been done sooner if I had concentrated on only the shawl.

I'm intending to order their "Shimmer" yarn to use with the Peacock Feathers shawl (that I have started twice and frogged both times because I didn't think the yarn I was using suited the project.)

I'm working on the Baby Arnold sweater from The Knit Stitch right now, along with a pair of socks.

Yes, I've knitted all 3. Shawls are becoming an addiction for me (like socks). I read somewhere that as you become a more experienced knitter, some people really get into finer knitting with smaller needles. Eeeek.... I've acquired a few books on lace knitting, and enjoy having a lace project on the go, along with a pair of socks.

I'm going to start thinking about Christmas knitting, so I can get projects done over the next few months without panic at the end. ;>) I intend to do all my Christmas knitting from my present stash. DH's daughter is expecting, so I have some baby knitting to do as well. (grin) I'm almost done the Baby Arnold coat from The Knit Stitch, and it's quite an incredible design. The only seam stitching to be done will be the shoulder seam. All the rest of it - no seams. I'm impressed, and it's quite an easy pattern. I can recommend it as a pattern for a baby sweater. I'm going to make up some kind of a baby hat to go with it - probably a toque-style. I think it's about high time I made a sweater for DH. All I've made for him so far is 2 pair of socks (which he loves).
