a little OT: wondering if there'd be any interest in

a completely secure FORUM, only for RCTY-ers? I have enough room and bandwidth, and might consider it if there is interest. The forum would be secure, inthat it would be NON-public, 'bots would not even know it's there. Anyone?

Actually r.c.t.y. has returned to normal, except for the fact that it now has fewer participants. I'm afraid that yet another forum would just about kill off the usenet group, and I wouldn't like that.

I like it here. Besides, how would legitimate newcomers find us? BonnieBlue

Barbara, Aud and Bonnie...

I agree! I just thought I'd make the OFFER, since so many AREN'T posting here anymore, and since SO MANY have emphatically complained about the yahell group. JM2C, Hugs, Noreen

It is a nice offer, Noreen!

I'm hoping some of those who left will return eventually...

I have a more positive point of view of how participants feel about the new Yahoo group. By and large, they are quite satisfied and very appreciative of Cher's and Nora's efforts to create and maintain the group. I happen to know that only one person has joined and subsequently left the group; she has not posted here for quite some time. I think it is grossly unfair to Cher and Nora for anyone to even imply that many people are dissatisfied with what they have done. Even though I personally prefer the newsgroup format more than Yahoo groups, I believe the latter is serving it's purpose well for those who do not feel comfortable here.

Christine,

It was only an offer. I too appreciate Cher and Nora's efforts. I'm still a member of the yahell, but find it a PITA, and ...

as far as "your friend" wrote (which I didn't see, only attached to yours)... I didn't IMPLY anything, I've been getting offist notes from many many people who don't like it, THAT is why they asked ME about a forum situation, where no one is 'the-boss', and I thought it'd be NICE for me to ask HERE as well.

Hugs to Christine, Noreen

I am with Bonnie, kind of you to offer Noreen, but indeed I do hope that the others will come back again to RCTY.

There are problems everywhere. I don't think that you can hide from them.

I also think that some of us (tried) to trace these obnoxious interlopers to where to originated and maybe put a stop to it by reporting these postings to the servers involved. You are right, It is indeed possible that it will happen again. But lets not do what the woman in this following story did.

(I told this story to my kids and now granddaughters, when they are scared of situations)

There lived an old lady long time ago, in a little village in the country. She used to go shopping everyday, in her favorite little store. One day she noticed an unruly horse pulling a buggy in the street she was just about to cross. This scared her so much, what if this horse would run over her the next time she had to go to the store. Just to play it safe she decided that it was maybe a good idea to not shop on the other side of the little town square, but stay on this side of the street, even if the store on this side of the square was not nearly as friendly or clean and did not have her favorite candies. After a while, when she went shopping in the store on this side of the square, she noticed a strange man lurking outside the store mumbling to himself and being rude to people. That certainly frightened her, imagine if that man would be mean to her, maybe steal her purse. Maybe she should ask her friend to shop for her, and she should stay home, that would be much saver. One morning making her breakfast in her kitchen she saw a mouse running over the floor. That certainly frightened her, what if that mouse would run right up her skirt and bite her in her leg. The old lady decided that maybe she should ask her friend to make breakfast and she should stay upstairs in her bedroom, staying in bed must be the safest way to hide from all these evil things lurking around corners. That evening the old lady settled in bed for good. When several days later her friend came to see her, and bring her some freshly baked bread and a cup of hot chocolate, she found her friend on the floor, with the bed collapsed around her ears. She was bruised and sore, and the moral of this story is.....You can't hide from evil in this world, better to be with a heads up and alert.......LOL

You can add to this story so it applies to the situation. My kids will all nod their heads, and repeat the story ahead of me, when they come to me today... "We know mam, we know.....There was on old lady who lived........"

I post in both places. Not as often in Yahoo, but that is because of the time of year. I am incredibly busy, and just don't have the time.

I wasn't criticising Noreen, I just feel that those who are unhappy at the security issues of being on a newsgroup are happier on other group. I find this group easier to read but am happy to "visit" with people on either group. I just didn't feel we needed another. Nice offer though Love, thanks for the hugs and higs for you too Christine
