amigurumi patterns in english

I posted this info previously, but did a re: , and so am making it easier for all interested to find;

If you want an english pattern booklet you can get one from this ebay seller, she self-publishes her great crochet patterns. (please do respect her copyright.)

How to Crochet Adorable Amigurumi Animals

formatting link
booklet is nicely printed and easy to use. No charts for the designs, just written directions. I do not have a personal interest in this and receive no discounts or other consideration for referrals. I hope nobody is offended that I posted a commercial link.

the above seller has the least expensive amigurumi pattern collection that I know of, all others I have seen are one-offs, or are in Japanese (most Japanese books have very clear charts, experienced crocheters should find them easy to use) search ebay for amigurumi and you will find Japanese books.

I have not seen knitted designs, but they are stitched in rounds, maybe you would able to transpose?

Hey guys!

Just wanted you all to know that I just bought this book! I'll be sure and share when it gets here.

Also, just to let you know .... for the true amigurumi 'look' .... eyes are set wide apart, low on face, and mostly the head is larger than body.

It's really quite easy ... I don't even follow a pattern most times .... they're done in the round ... just a ball for head (larger than you plan the body), a small oval for the body, smaller ovals for arms and legs ... stuff and sew together. Then I just dress, or decorate in various ways.

Eyes are black beads ... or you can use the plastic or glass animal eyes. Nose and mouth are either stitched on with embroidery thread ... or there is no mouth or nose ... up to you.

That sounds easy enough! They kind of look like those stuffed dogs and cats that you can buy in WalMart (and likely other stores too) with the humongous heads and small bodies... except these are made of yarn. So cute! ;o)

Dee,

Maybe you could just share what you think of the patterns? I am considering ordering the book myself but I'd love a "review" when you get it!

Hiya Laura,

That sounds good ... I'll do that. Haven't gotten the book yet. I'm anxiously waiting.... of course, I usually just make up my own characters as I go ... but it will be nice to see how they do theirs.
