Shelagh, I used merino laceweight, US size 7 needles. THe pattern is based on Myrna Stahmann's ALKA Faroese, I made numerous changes on this one... I made two previously following her pattern to a "T", but the changes were notes I made that I wanted to incorporate into this one. HTH, Noreen
