I just made it up as I went along. I wrote down what I was doing in case it didn't work out, then I could see what I had done and revamp it... but it worked out perfectly. Like I said, I love making costumes.... usually sewn by hand (some with the help of other added materials like beads, sponge kitchen cushions or cardboard or even styrofoam at times), but the "Knight in Shining Armor" costume was the only one I knit. :o)

Of course if I had a proper sewing machine I could do more (possibly to sell), but making costumes for my only child... I was/am always happy to sew them by hand. The largest thing I sewed for him was a long brown hooded cloak like Obiwan Kenobi wore in the Star Wars movie.

Heh heh-I'm almost finished with the gargantuan aran sweater I've been working on (off and on that is) since July. He used to be a football player, big guy and this is the largest clothing article I've ever made. I'm going to feel lost for a while when I no longer have it to work on LOL. There's tons of things to learn, making socks was one of the best things I ever learned. Love the new self patterning yarns, so much fun to work with. Can be used for all kinds of projects too, try some when you make your next cap and watch what happens. Now we have you, you'll be a yarn addict like the rest of us heh heh. Marie and the cats

Marie, Well I'm glad my grandson is only three and that I'm not too big. LOL. I would love to learn to make socks one day too. I've heard of the self patterning yarns.............ah now to think of it I think I saw some at the yarn shop. I'm sure you will think of something to do after the sweater is done. Yarn addict?????? You mean the 15 rolls I bought for my birthday may be a start??????? LOL. Susie

I am now working on a sweater for my newest granddaughter, using huge needles, and a star stitch. It is rough going, but at least it is a small size! Star stitch is a 4 row repeat, using two colours, and has a lot of "purl into the next three sts together, do not slip the sts off the needle, wrap yarn around, and purl into the same three stitches. Then slip the stitches off the needle." There is also a hat to match, which, of course, I must do!

LOL I stand corrected! *also* pillows, stuffed toys, couch cushions, chair cushions.... the list goes on and on. Just don't stuff live animals... they won't take kindly to it, and it would be a mess by the time it was.... erm... disposed of. hehehehe
