OK...my round rag rug is about 4 feet across and I don't know when to quit. I may make one big enough for the Rotunda in DC. and donate it to them. :)
But I have to graduate to using the top of my bed to sew the strips on. I have been using the top of a card table. I noticed just a little curving up yesterday which means, it is not laying flat enough.
Another thing I have learned to cheat on. When I pick out three strips of material to braid, I was tacking them together. (sewed) Now I put them together with one small staple. Tah Dah. I figure this way, as I keep the circle going, they will ,in time, be sewn in place automatically.
I also wondered where I had some old sheets and my oldest were being used to cover stuff in the basement. I grabbed those and covered that stuff with plastic.
I was thinking of getting tacky and braiding in some kind of metalic material, but I think that would ruin the effect of a plain ole rag rug. Rustic..old fashioned.
