felting fun

I did it - took the leap and felted my first item. I used a basic felted slipper pattern and added some trim (which I've been doing to all kinds of things lately). That's the good news. The bad news is that I bought one skein of the wool planning to just make a small hat, so now I have to get another skein before I can finished the pair of slippers.

Here's a pic.

Very nice, this slipper looks very cosy, but a bit lonely without it's mate....LOL

Better get the other skein fasts before they are sold out. Otherwise you have to hop along on one slipper....

I had it all knit and sewn, but before felting, I picked up inevery stitch around the top with one strand of wool and one strand ofeyelash yarn and knit three rounds. I also used size 13 needlesbecause I have a narrow foot. Joy

Thanks, Els! I'm going to call the shop as soon as it opens this morning and have the wool sent.

Or she uses a different yarn and makes a younger sibling rather than a twin for the first one. Who said they have to match? he he

Jan, that would be a typical Els solution....One time when Otto had ripped the lining of his jacket of his suit, I made a bright red heart and neatly covered the rip. Otto is very colour blind so He woul not notice the bright red, but he was not at all pleased with the heart. He did get lots of comment at work though....(Grinning)

Or she makes freinds with a one-legged person. There was a time when we thought that Keith was going to have to lose his foot, and we shocked some salespeople by asking them if we could buy one shoe for a cheaper price.

Very funny, the poor sales people did not know what to make of that, I am sure !! LOL. Glad that Keith still has both his feet. Better knit him some warm slippers this weekend, in celebration of two feet

LOL I have one done, and the second one half done. I will finish knitting tonight, and hope to felt tomorrow. This pattern is so quick! But they are not for Keith. He prefers to wear sneakers indoors, and has a cheap pair that he uses as slippers.

Years ago , there was an article in the Dutch "Libelle" my mother read , about women who had Two different sized feet , who had to buy two pairs of shoes , in order to have one . Than some clever lady put an Add in a newpaper looking for a person with Opposite Different shoes she found such a womam ,,,,Than their `only` problem was not having the Same taste in shoes .
