Here's the Update on Dave's visit! Warning this is looooong!
Sorry I didn't 'report' back on our visit last night...you will see why
after reading this..lol
I called Dave when I got off of work Sunday afternoon, and we arranged to meet at the truck stop for supper. As I mentioned before, I was kinda anxious to meet him, being the first time EVER meeting someone off of the internet. My DH and youngest DS went along...oldest DS had to work. Our visit went very well! He is such a lively person, and boy does he
like to TALK!!! LOL He let me browse through a couple of his scrapbooks, and he showed me April's patriotic scrapbook that she made
for him. The online pictures I had seen of this earlier did not do it justice!..It was just more gorgeous IRL! He had it filled with his pictures, and it looked great! I brought along a couple of my books to show him, and he gave me some constructive criticism (as he called it) on a few things. (The books had a few of my earlier beginner pages in it, and I agreed on most of what he told me :-) He also tried to enable me with TLC..and right in front of DH, no less...imagine that! Gotta give him credit for that....hahaha.. (DH has no idea what I spend on stuff) LOL I took home a catalog he gave me. He was really a pleasure to meet! He was also generous too, and gave
me a couple of TLC page kit packages..very cool!!! I gave him some paper...and a few cards, and I also baked him some Toll House cookies with white and chocolate chips in them, and he about had a fit over those!!! I wonder how long they will last him? :-) DH and Dave had a lot to talk about. DH used to drive a truck back before our oldest son was born, so they swapped some trucking and traveling stories. DS looked through Daves books too, while we were chatting. He thought Dave was funny and really nice! :-)
Now I can tell you why I didn't post this last night!
We were all sitting talking after eating supper, and we noticed the sky getting real dark! It was working up a good thunderstorm, or so we thought at the time, so we headed for our truck, and Dave headed to his, to beat the rain. The temperature had really dropped! We said our goodbyes and all that and headed home. On the way home, the wind picked up, and it rained like the sky just opened up!! Closer to home we had to dodge a couple of tree branches in the road. On the radio in the truck we finally heard a weather bulletin and that there was a TORNADO WARNING for our county, and our town. I was like,"OMG and Dave is out there in his truck!!! " So when we got home, and turned on the tv to see what warnings were for where, Dave called me on my cell, and was telling us how bad it was there...Oakwood was out of power, and storming really badly, and he had heard on the radio of trucks being blown off the road, and a roof being damaged...it was like all hell broke loose after we left, and we had no idea anything was going to happen before we left the truck stop!!! He was quite worried about the
weather, and I felt so bad for leaving him there, & I was ready to give
him directions to come to our house for shelter, but the storm passed through very quickly, and I called him back and told him we were all in the clear for the rest of the night and I assured him that if I heard of ANYmore bad weather coming thru I would call him. My DH left the house to head up to his parents house to see what damage might have
happened up there. Their house was near to the projected line of the tornado, according to the tv news.((it was fine) OH.... did I happen to
mention that there really WAS a tornado??? and that it touched down about three miles north of the truck stop we had just eaten, and where Dave was planning on spending the night?! It ripped the roof off of the
middle school, and power poles were damaged, and transformers blown, I think a pole barn blew across a road somewhere...it was just a whirlwind (no pun intended!) of activity last night with the weather! I
heard this morning that there were 12..yes you read it right...TWELVE tornadoes across Central Illinois last night..and I normally love storms and I have always wanted to see a tornado, but you can't see that SH*T at night..not knowing where anything is and all that...wow....it was pretty darn scary!! So...the internet was out of the question last night and I just decided
I would post this today. Dave said it was one memorable vist!!! Our waitress took a pic of us,and its in my Webshots under RCS Meets.
