... I am just afraid that you are scared to death, NOT to make it, when "ALL" of us are convinced that you do! ;-)) Just relax, you will be SO pretty in the jacket! AUD ;-))

They've got a dictionary page where they give translations of knitting and crotchet terms:

Thanks, Penny. I noticed that too but I think it would be a pretty big job to translate. If I had more experience crocheting I might tackle the job but since crochet instructions are a foreign language to me anyway I think I'd be better off starting with the English version! My favorite LYS doesn't carry their patterns but there are 12 other stores in the area that might so I just have to find some time to pick up the phone and call them! Or bite the bullet and order it all online.

Thanks though!

I've only just learned to knit (I'm a crocheter originally) and I'm trying to finish a few other projects before I start on the ruana. I would like very much to make it in Homespun, but I may be forced by lack of experience to make it in the recommended wool just for guage until I'm more confident about making substitutions. However (HINT HINT) if you have done the substitutions already for the ruana, could I beg you in the interest of love for your fellow human-kind to give me some direction so I don't have to use the wool? :)

I'm sure you can do it. Crochet is just a matter of following the instructions, step by step. I think once you can SC you can do any pattern if you're willing to be patient with it and frog a little if need be.
