Jan You GOT IT ,, i cut the coat from a wool [100% pure for me , but you might use any cloth that is a bit fluid ] I once made my daughter a linnen one. I preffer a wide material that will Automaticly be wide enough for the Cuff to cuff cut ,, than i maesurse my self from wanted lenth to shoulder and Double that size ,,, you asked what my blue one`s length is ??? wait a moment ??? ...... You would not belive it,, i own several tape measures , but when i need one ???? Aha there i see one hiding ,,,,i have exactly a meter 100 cm length in this coat [ Already hemmed , i put it on to tell you where it reaches, it covers my knees. The other 2 ,,, The Camel is 98 cm , and the Bordeau is 110 cm long. Front and back are cut together ,,, front is sliced open ,,, Yes you are correct , only the 2 underarm/sideseam ,in one go , and to finnish those edges you mentioned. For our climate here the soft wools are ideal , it is nice in very cold weather over sweaters etc,,, it is nice in milder tempratures, over lighter clothing, It is EASY to carry around and take with you when needed,,,, easy to care for ,... i think i have my camel over 12 years approx. I wash it like i wash my sweaters with hair shampoo You can adorn the coat , you can wear it plain... a friend of mine cut it from Toweling to waer after bathing. The sizse and form Go with your changing body , it looks nice when you are slimmer and nice when you are fuller ... mirjam
