happy Thanksgiving

I've never had fried turkey, Nora. Is it done the same way as fried chicken?

Oh... the first time we had turkey burgers was at our local fair a few years ago (although they don't put actual thickened gravy in with their turkey for moisture... just the drippings, I think), and we just loved them! I actually had to go back to the fair close to suppertime and pick up enough for all of us (my parents were still living at the time).... along with a few other "fair" treats like candy apples, and candyfloss. LOL

Since then though, when we have a lot of turkey left over after Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, I always make sure to finely (not TOO finely though) chop enough to almost fill one of those plastic ice-cream containers along with a couple of large spoonfuls of gravy that is left after the meal and freeze it to use two or three weeks later. Just heat and spoon it onto the hamburger buns. It is SOOOOO good!! :o)

When I make cold turkey sandwiches (Both my parents used to love these too. In fact the last Thanksgiving that my Dad was alive he was in the hospital and I brought him a couple of sandwiches from home, as they were giving him mushy food that he refused to eat... he ate the sandwiches like he had never eaten food before.) I always put a layer of jellied cranberry sauce between a layer of turkey and a layer of dressing. :o)

Peace! Gemini

Yes Jan we sure are thankful for lots of things. This afternoon I was working in the garden, very peaceful. At one point I was standing with my head among the branches of the Sumac tree. Even though the sun was not shining the leaves in gold and oranges and bright red, were louminous (spelling) it made my day, it was like the stained glass windows in a church. Lovely.

I am happy to say that I didn't eat too much. I think my hand bothering me also contributed to me not eating my normal amount of Thanksgiving dinner.

I am thankful for having my terrific son and my dogs who love me unconditionally... whether I give them turkey or not. LOL I am also thankful for being blessed throughout my life to have wonderful parents, my brother who I adore(d) and sisters who I got along with. I am also thankful for having kind and caring friends, and for having a roof over our heads and food in the pantry. :o)

Peace and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating it today! :o) Gemini

Thank you, Liz! We had our turkey dinner about an hour ago and I'm still STUFFED. I think I need a glass of gingerale or something else fizzy to get some gas up. LOL

Peace! Gemini

Thanks Els

Each day I hope I get a phone call to let me know that the surgery has been moved up from Nov 28th. Crafting is very difficult but at least I can do little bits some days.
