Awww.... my parents were together for over 51 years when my Dad passed away, and even though he was probably the shyest person you'd ever have met, the romance never really went out of their marriage. On special days like Valentines Day, Birthdays (my Mom's birthday was Feb 16th), Mother's Day, anniversaries, etc he always brought her breakfast in bed with a nice card that he *always* signed the same way "Love, as much as ever, and then some! Red" ;o) And on Valentines Day he also would buy her a heart-shaped box of chocolates. One year he found ceramic yellow rose (her favorite) at the jewelry store and gave her that, or another year he gave her a rose brooch (she asked to have that buried with her), another year he gave her a heart-shaped locket.
One year on their anniversary (June 5th) my Mom had made the comment the night before (jokingly) that she hadn't had flowers in a long time... so my Dad brought her the usual breakfast in bed with a dandelion in a vase. She laughed about that... he did give her something nice later in the day though. ;o) My aunt (my Mom's sister) used to tell my Mom that she was spoiled rotten by my Dad... my Mom would say "You're just jealous!" and my aunt would say "As a matter of fact, I am!" LOL
