HELP? Please? Felting...!!!! S.O.S.!!!

Wait a sec.... you're in Canada and you don't have a pair of Sorel's? They're the warmest, driest boots I've ever had. Of course they're no fashion objects -- rubber with leather uppers and felted liners. But boy, are they ever warm!

I have a pair of wellingtons, but they do not have much of a heel support, and my old bones like a good heel in a boot.

I have them, but they are no good in our winters. Great in the fall and spring, but not when normal temps are -40 or colder. (-40 is the same in F and C - really cold!)

The ones I used to see were good down to -50 or -60F. They have some lighter weight ones that are more snow boots and not as good in very cold weather.

Cher stop worring.....LOL, I am pretty sure that there is indeed another word for the same dwelling. I will have to go and look for it. I am doing better with spelling because of the good spellers around me, I could not do with out you....LOL, knit wise of spell wise.....You are correct in assuming that there is more than one word. I have a very nice little book from the Textil museum, on yurd making. I will look in it. Maybe Mirjam or Helen can enlighten us.

Els, I did some Googling and found many sites about yurts so I think that is the right name. Just put define:yurt in the search field. Nothing came up when I searched on yurd. ;-)

And thanks too for the "Constructing a Yurt URL", I think I had seen one on a national Geographic TV show decades ago, I had wondered how such a round dome could be made for outdoors living.

With the word blindness, I have, I may write the same word 10 times incorrect and ten times I will come up with an different spelling ...... LOL Yeah for orriganallity......that is me, even in my spelling....LOL I never mind being corrected. I am finally getting back to the warp of camel and silk with a weft of Yak and silk. It is a very fine yarn I bought in the spring from Treenway. it is really strong and lovely yarn. I am also spinning some mohair. I bought it for felting classes at the September local fair. Could it be because of the fact that each of us speaks a different language and in our "mother tang" the same word is spelled and said in different ways?? I'll give you an example in Portuguese the word is YURTA, in French is YOURTE and in English is YURT. (If we are talking about the round typical nomadic homes or "houses" from Mongolia, are we??) So maybe there isn't a "correct" way :-) Sofia D
