Hesira, START the trend with your kids, LOL! Noreen
The current "trendy" cap for both girls and boys of middle- and high school age seems to be a modified helmet, similar to the one shown in the link below only without the chin strap. Maybe I'm just seeing them more because I've been thinking about laying off the "for family, for me" knitting and doing some charity work instead - knitted caps for the VA, maybe.
My kids are too young for me to have seen that trend, I guess, but what a cool hat

but;but;but... I've seen people wearing winter caps in SUMMER all over the US, so they'd be right in style, even in a warmer southern winter, yes?? Noreen :D
I may just do that once I finish this last pair of socks. Just in time for winter down south!

I've got a lot of finished goods in a booth at Farmington this weekend, once I see what comes back I'll decide what I ought to knit.
I do like those little helmets though...
I actually just finished knitting a cap in this style for my granddaughter. I have a pic of it on my knitting blog
My granddaughter is modeling it and looks so cute. My son in law is now begging me to make one for him in his favorite "Steeler" colors. I got the idea for the hat from seeing Gwenetth Paltrow wear something like it in the movie "Proof"
She certainly is! Don't you love knitting for your grandkids? Nice looking hat too (grin).

Gorgeous! The hat AND the granddaughter.
