Thanks. After shopping around for awhile, I recently bought some of the Brittany Birch in size 1 and am quite pleased with them. FWIW, they have a

5 year replacement guarantee. I am still curious about the availability of 5.5" wooden or bamboo needles which were recommended by Aaron. They do seem to be a very rare commodity in the marketplace.

Crystal Palace Bamboo DPNs come in 6" or 8" lengths. The 5" Brittany needles are too short for me to handle comfortably (I have big hands), the 6" CPBs are ok but I don't like the faceted feel of the things. I LUV LUV LUV my 8" rosewoods though. So much do I love them that the last time I placed a co-op order for Susannah needles from the distributor I ordered a dozen sets of 2.5mm rosewood DPNs for myself. I ought to be set for years WRT socks!
